Country charm in Wachenheim
wineBANK Pfalz – An Experience for the Senses
Wachenheim’s late Baroque Rettinger Haus is named for the renowned Rettinger family of winegrowers, who for centuries drove the wine trade in this city. Underneath are two linked vaulted cellars that now serve as home to the wineBANK Pfalz. With seven vaults containing 252 lockers, 60 historic storage compartments, six tank vaults and two private cellars, wineBANKers have plenty of space to store more than 40,000 bottles of wine. The “By-the-Glass” system always features 12 selected high-quality wines from various premium estates that are otherwise only available for purchase by the bottle. As befits this remarkable wine selection, Metzgerei Hambel from Wachenheim, known as a supplier of the finest meat products for gastronomy throughout Germany, has a selection of delicacies ready for you, led off by the favorite dish of former Chancellor Helmut Kohl: Saumagen. Discover a wine world all your own in these remarkable historic vaulted cellars.
